I am an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Clinical Training at The New School for Social Research and Assistant Director of the Concentration in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling. I am also the Assistant Director of The Center for Optimal Living where I coordinate clinical services and training activities along with providing individual psychotherapy.Together with Dr. Andrew Tatarsky, I started the first-ever Harm Reduction Psychotherapy Certificate Program.
In my clinical work at The Center for Optimal Living, I provide individual psychotherapy using an integrative harm reduction framework where the focus is on developing a collaborative and compassionate relationship with my clients to promote positive change. See Practice for additional information about my clinical approach.
I'm especially interested in providing mindfulness-based interventions and working with survivors of trauma. I completed a 5-day intensive training on Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention in October 2014, and utilize that approach in my work.
I'm available for consultations and can provide trainings on a variety of topics related to substance misuse, harm reduction, mindfulness approaches, and working with trauma survivors. Visit Events page for upcoming trainings.
