Join Jill Satterfield and I this fall for a daylong training on building inner awareness and self-compassion. Jill has been a mentor of mine for many years and I'm thrilled to be teaching with her again when she visits NYC this fall.
This training will help clinicians, graduate students, and other mental health and substance abuse treatment providers develop inner awareness and self-compassion practices to enhance their own meditation practice and clinical work. Beginners and those with previous meditation experience are welcome to attend.
By learning how to to anchor ourselves in our breath and attending to sensations in the body, we expand our self-regulation skills and capacity to be with difficult experiences. Self-compassion practices have been shown to increase well-being and promote resilience during times of distress. We will provide instruction in mindfulness practices designed to cultivate present-moment awareness of breath and body, along with how to tailor your practice based on the recognition of what’s needed. We will emphasize how to adapt mindfulness practices for clinical work and with clients experiencing substance use issues.
